Thankfully they came home safe and sound, around 9:30 PM. They left a bit early because the only acts left were "rappers". (At least they have SOME vestiges of taste!)
According to what he told me, and the review in today's newspaper (the paper is online but that review isn't, grrrrr) there was plastic bottle-throwing and "grass" throwing.. (no, not pot, but REAL grass, as in chunks of sod). This was cut short by one of the organizers (according to the paper.. my son thought it was security) who dared the main perpetrators to come forward. As all bullies, they backed off. That was the worst part of the day, as reported, which was a resounding success if you like daredevil stunts and loud headbanging music with no discernible melody. Oh yes, and obscene lyrics. Obscene is in the eye (and ear) of the beholder, though, and if everybody says it (repeatedly) wouldn't the f-word lose some of its shock effect?
Today he stripped his bedroom walls of all Florida Panthers memorabilia , lovingly collected over the past 5 years or so, (as a small child he was attracted by the fierce panther in their logo) and plans to redecorate with band posters. I haven't yet decided if this is a good thing.
