Friday Five Again
1. What was your most memorable moment from the last week?
Seeing a strange man with no pants on.
This is what happened: I'd been having problems with tendinitis (achilles) for over a year so my doctor finally referred me to a specialist whom I saw last week. She recommended something called an AFO (I think) which looks something like a brace but is plastic with sheepskin lining and lots of straps and velcro. I'm supposed to sleep with my leg in that thing so that the tendon gets stretched out.
They make it to measure so I picked it up yesterday. The therapist (or whoever she was) showed me how to put it on and adjust it, and then left the room saying she would put it in a bag for me.
I put my shoe back on and waited.
She never came back.
Gradually I poked my nose out the door of the room and ventured into the hallway. I could see Ms. Therapist through a smoked glass panel in the next room, playing with someone's foot.
I still waited awhile but finally knocked on the door of that room and opened it.. only to find the person who owned the foot was sitting there in his underwear!
I met his eyes and apologized with mine, looked back down and got the therapist's attention.
Well it IS her fault for leaving me be!
She had carried my AFO and the bag to the front desk but nobody told me that!
2. What one person touched your life this week?
No, no, I'm joking.
It's hard to pick one - my kids always touch my life as do my friends. Maybe I should say Aaron Brown, the evening anchorman on CNN. I spend more time with him than with anyone else these days, and I do have a roaring crush on him, he is so CUTE!
3. How have you helped someone this week?
Uhhh.. I kind of see myself as a human cat. It's only necessary for me to BE, not to actually DO anything.
But if I must answer, besides doing everybody's laundry around here and cleaning up after them and letting the kids drive me around because they're practicing for their drivers' tests, and listening to them when they want to be listened to and leaving them alone when they want that, and chatting with my older son on MSN when he's in his room and I'm downstairs because he seems comfortable communicating with me that way even though he could hear me SHOUT without wasting all that bandwidth, and putting up with them IN GENERAL... besides all that, I hugged The Witch at bowling.
Either she's mellowing or I am.
4. What one thing do you need to get done by this time next week?
5. What one thing will you do over the next seven days to make your world a better place?
Ok, ok... ummmmmmmm...
Oh! I will use my credit card (points, you know) to pay for an unlimited weekday membership to a local public golf course for the Housemate.
We did this last year and he was out of the house most of the day, most weekdays, from early April to mid-November!
That will indeed make my world a MUCH better place!
Stephanie discovered this new journal.
It's not only that it's well-written and that its author has almost a lifetime of wisdom to impart; it's the way she hit the ground running, so to speak.
Right from the beginning, (less than two weeks ago!) this has been a remarkable read.
